At West Coast Reptile Productions our mission is to collect, breed, design, and sell healthy, genetically diverse reptiles. In doing so, we often come across items that we feel are essential to our day-to-day operations. Whenever possible, we like to share this acquired knowledge or product with our customers.

Aspen bedding from Harlan Teklad is definitely one of those products that we highly recommend.

Harlan Teklad aspen bedding is made from 100% Great Lakes aspen wood and is specifically designed for use as a contact bedding. During production, the product is exposed to temperatures of 1200 degrees Fahrenheit for several minutes. This extreme temperature condition greatly reduces the possibility of contamination by harmful bacteria and other microorganisms. It also lowers the moisture content of the finished product to approximately eight percent. Laboratory analysis of this process is performed quarterly and provides information on potential contaminants such as pesticides, heavy metals, yeast, and molds.

The bedding is packaged in compressed 4.38 cubic foot autoclavable paper bales that weigh 35 pounds. When opened, the contents will expand to approximately 9 cubic feet.
